Purpose:

Vocational Support Volunteers help people experiencing homelessness feel welcomed and supported while they search for jobs. By building relationships and offering hands-on help with things like job applications, they make a real difference in someone’s path to stability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Vocational support: assist individuals with writing resumes, searching for jobs, and writing cover letters

· Educational support: assist individuals improve reading and writing skills

· Hospitality: Greet and direct individuals, refill coffee and snacks

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT:

· This role is a mix of sitting and standing in a homeless shelter setting

·This role serves individuals currently experiencing hunger, homelessness, and addiction.

TRAINING:

· Onboarding training and orientation will be provided.

Description

Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) serves men, women and children experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction. Emergency services include food, safe shelter, clothing, basic needs and vital care. Ongoing, wraparound support and programs offer free, on-site professional mental health services, faith formation, adult education, supportive services, job-skills training, early childhood education, substance use recovery, financial-skills training and more.
