The Storybook Trail Assistant will assist the primary Storybook Trail Volunteer by partnering on installing a new book at the Storybook Trail at Wolbach Farm each quarter. Installing the pages in the stands is easier with two people, so this is a great volunteer opportunity for partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Laminate pages from the book and install in stands along the Storybook Trail.
  • Maintain the trail stands and ensure they are clean and well-presented, reporting any signs of wear or damage to the Events & Engagement Manager.
  • Print and hang flyers at the kiosk, office entrance, and trailhead promoting the new book.
Skills Needed:
  • Passion for children’s literature and nature.
  • Ability to walk approximately 1 mile mile along the Storybook Trail.
  • Comfort using a cordless drill, cleaning stands, and carrying supplies.
  • Attention to detail in laying out and laminating pages.
Logistics:
  • Training Provided: Orientation with SVT staff regarding book selection and setup.
  • Hours: 4-6 hour commitment once per season.
  • Duration: Seasonal (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter).
  • Location: Wolbach Farm, Sudbury
  • Reports to: Events & Engagement Manager

Sudbury Valley Trustees is a regional land trust in Massachusetts that conserves land and protects wildlife habitat in the Concord, Assabet, and Sudbury river basin for the benefit of present and future generations.

Description

Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT) is a regional land trust, founded in 1953. SVT is dedicated to conserving land and protecting wildlife habitat in the Concord, Assabet and Sudbury river basin. This is one of the most scenic, culturally rich, and historically significant regions in the United States. Today, approximately 3,100 members support SVT’s work in 36 different towns in the watershed.
SVT is responsible for the protection and care of diverse conservation lands that include wetlands, sensitive habitats, trails and other open spaces including major sanctuaries. SVT reservations are open to the public free of charge, and include trails for walking, bird watching, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.
