Join Friends of the Riverfront for 2025’s fifth Train on the Trail session!

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will be leading an in-person training session where participants will learn about native pollinators, pollinator-friendly plants, how to start your own native pollinator garden and more! Participants will then have the opportunity to help plant a pollinator garden, build bee boxes, and make their own wildflower seed bombs.

The 2025 Train on the Trail series will offer enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience, including native and invasive plants, watercraft safety, tree identification, and more!

An email will be sent the day before the event with details. Email Angela Valotta, Trail Stewardship AmeriCorps Member, with any questions at trailstewardship@friendsoftheriverfront.org.

Mission Statement

Build safe, clean, and accessible riverfront trails as part of the Three Rivers Heritage & Water Trail systems to create and maintain an outstanding experience for trail users while providing economic, environmental, and health benefits to the Pittsburgh region.

Description

Since 1991, Friends of the Riverfront has worked to protect and restore the riverfront in the Pittsburgh region through trail development and stewardship after decades of legacy pollution. The Three Rivers Heritage Trail now encompasses 33 miles of urban and suburban riverfront trails along both banks of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio rivers. Through broad and diverse collaborations, we continue to work towards and promote environmental restoration, economic vitality, and public health benefits for Allegheny County and Southwestern Pennsylvania.
