2025-2026 Virtual Drumline Coach
ORGANIZATION: SoulPhamm Inc
Please visit the new page to apply.

SoulPhamm is recruiting for an experienced drummer to join our Coaching Team in support of ONYX, our Drumline which will serve up to 10 junior high and high school students.
We will not recruit for this team until the Coach has been identified and onboarded. The virtual Coach will support the in-person coaching team. Our season runs from September to June (closed during major holidays). Once onboarded, the Virtual Coach will select an evening practice (ideally beginning at 6pm or 7pm) and lasting for an hour (the Coach can tweak this based on the needs of the team and his/her availability).
Our first drumline found great success with online rehearsals during the height of covid but has been on hiatus for the past two seasons. We're seeking a passionate Coach to develop our percussion section from the ground up.
The "non-existent" team is already getting several invitations to perform in high visibility events, based off of our existing hip-hop majorette dance team, so we anticipate that this team will be fairly busy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead drumline instruction focusing on rhythm, technique, and performance excellence
- Conduct sectional rehearsals and guide performance preparation
- Develop beginning musicians while challenging advanced players
- Work creatively with alternative percussion (including bucket drums) as we build our equipment inventory
- Maintain and repair percussion equipment, including drum head replacement and tuning
Qualifications:
- Strong percussion background required, with marching band experience preferred
- Previous percussion teaching experience preferred but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, parents, and administrators
- Bachelor’s degree in music preferred but not required
- Exceptional high school seniors with substantial percussion experience will be considered
Join us in building an innovative percussion program that combines traditional drumline elements with contemporary hip-hop majorette style. Help shape the future of our ensemble while developing the next generation of musicians. Po phone calls please.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.
Description
Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
