ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Seeking to recruit volunteers to provide visitors with information concerning Corps Recreation Areas. Twice daily check park grounds, campsites, shelters, restrooms, playgrounds, and utilities for signs of vandalism, water leaks, hazard trees, etc. Keep in mind the safety of our visitors. Notify Corps personnel promptly if any problems are seen. While on your shift you are required to stay overnight in the park.


Outside the gatehouse, you'll conduct routine inspections of the campsites, playgrounds, restrooms, and pavilions to ensure they are clean, safe, and well-maintained.


Volunteer must have self contained living quarters and provide their own transportation for making rounds in the park. Park Hosts will work alternating shifts with other Hosts. Park Hosts will operate the R1S computer program, collect fees, and provide visitor assistance. Work will be performed according to safety guidelines provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Volunteers will be expected to work at least 5 hours per day.


Volunteers should be attentive, friendly, accommodating, and portray a positive image of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Training will be provided. Work will be performed according to safety guidelines provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.


The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers require a background check. All work campers/park hosts will be subject to a background check before starting duties in the gatehouse.
