ORGANIZATION: BLIND UNITED INC

Blind United is hosting an exciting Art & Craft Fair to showcase and support blind and visually impaired artists in our community. We’re looking for volunteers to help make this event a success!

As a volunteer, you may assist with event setup and cleanup, guiding attendees, helping vendors at their tables, handing out flyers, or providing general support to ensure the event runs smoothly. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, support a meaningful cause, and be part of an inclusive community event.

No prior experience is necessary-just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to help! Training and instructions will be provided on the day of the event.

We would like to promote individuals with any disability, not limited to those with visual impairments. Including but not limited to providing the opportunity to learn and maximize skills, which will allow them to become independent in today’s ever-changing society. To determine the skills set of individuals based on their disability (is) and provide training for the following: Interviewing Techniques, Braille, Independent Living, Assistive Technology, Orientation and Mobility, as well as any training necessary for independent success.

Description

Blind United is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering blind and visually impaired individuals through education, community support, and advocacy. Founded in 2022, we provide accessible technology training, support groups, and social events that foster connection, confidence, and independence. Our programs include technology workshops, interest groups, and community outreach activities. We are committed to inclusivity, empathy, and respect, and we maintain a safe space where all individuals are welcomed and valued.

We’ve hosted events like "Walk a Mile in My Shoes," community fundraisers, and educational workshops to promote disability awareness and inclusion. Our goal is to break down barriers and build a stronger, more inclusive community for people of all abilities.
