Are you passionate about equity, tech, and using your legal knowledge to support grassroots innovation? Ignite This Ish is a growing nonprofit that builds digital tools and creative programming to uplift marginalized communities through tech equity. We're looking for a Legal Advisor to help us navigate the legal landscape as we expand our impact.
About the Role
This is a volunteer opportunity to provide strategic and practical legal guidance to a small but mighty organization building programs like our Design Equity Lab, a 12-week UX design course for youth from underrepresented communities. You’ll play a key part in helping us structure partnerships, protect our IP, and ensure we're staying compliant as we grow.
Responsibilities
Provide general legal guidance on nonprofit operations
Review contracts, sponsorship agreements, and grant requirements
Advise on liability and risk issues related to youth programming
Assist with protecting intellectual property (branding, curriculum, research)
Help develop simple internal policies (e.g., volunteer waivers, media releases)
Ideal for Someone Who
Has a background in nonprofit, IP, contract, or youth program law
Wants to give back and shape an equity-focused tech nonprofit
Can contribute 3-5 hours/month and advise on an as-needed basis
Believes in equitable access to opportunity and digital tools
This is a unique chance to join at the ground level and shape how we grow responsibly and sustainably. If this sounds like a match, we’d love to connect.
Let’s build something powerful together.
