Social Art and Culture is opening up 3 seats for our Event Volunteer Committee to begin July 2025 and serve a minumum of one year
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Social Art and Culture (SAAC)! Since 2009, we have used the transformative power of the arts to educate, heal, and activate change-especially in communities that are too often overlooked. Our work focuses on four urgent areas: creative economics, environmental justice, public health, and collective impact building.
As an Volunteer Event Committee member, you’ll expand your leadership in arts-based community work while engaging in developing, planning, and organizing events. SAAC is a collaborative space where your expertise is valued, and your ideas can flourish. Working with our Event Committee Chairs and program team member, you’ll coordinate event activations, design marketing campaigns, and sponsorship that will support culturally rooted and community driven event activations.
We invite event professionals, marketing coordinators and those with fundraising experience to join our Event Committee for no less than one year, beginning July 2025, where your experience and vision can directly shape our initiatives: Creative Entrepreneur Capital Summit, DMV Made Festival, and the Black L.U.V. Fest 30th Anniversary.
If you’re passionate about the intersection of art, education, and justice-this is your space to lead, collaborate, and build.

Mission Statement
At Social Art and Culture, we believe Creativity is an economy. Founded in 2009 as a 5013c, we proudly reside in Southeast Washington, DC's Historic Anacostia Arts and Culture District. Using the power of the arts to educate and advance underserved communities, we strive to lead the new narrative around how we invest in the creative economy--a new economically sustainable framework that invests in artisans and its culture. This framework continues to build our aperture for socially responsible artisans and artivists, where we collaboratively showcase their works' impact through exhibitions, media arts, fellowships, and curated experiences.
Description
Social Art and Culture’s mission centers on the arts as a sustainable, viable, and vital component of the creative and general economies. We believe in using the power of the arts to educate and advance marginalized and underserved communities-a new economically sustainable framework that invests in artisans and its culture. Social Art and Culture was founded in 2009 as a collective impact organization. Sustained, collective impact provides an approach to tackling these problems that allows for systemic changes and population-level outcomes through advocacy, outreach, and mobilization.
