For over 100 years, MMS has been the leading provider of specialized transportation for older adults, people with disabilities, and others with limited access to essential services in the greater Rochester, NY area. We provide approximately 400,000 rides each year, helping more than 6,000 individuals remain connected to medical care, day programs, school, and their communities.

Vision Statement: Improve independence and quality of life for everyone regardless of ability.

Description

Medical Motor Service (MMS) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing specialized transportation in the greater Rochester, NY area for over 100 years. We were founded during the 1918 influenza pandemic to ensure that people with medical needs could access care, and we’ve carried that mission forward ever since.

Our goal is simple and enduring: to ensure that no one is denied access to critical services because of age, disability, or income. Each year, we provide approximately 400,000 rides to more than 6,000 individuals-connecting them to medical appointments, adult day programs, dialysis, schools, and other essential destinations.

MMS operates one of the largest accessible transportation fleets in the region, offering wheelchair and ambulatory rides with a focus on safety, dignity, and respect. Our services are especially vital for older adults, people with disabilities, and others who fall through the cracks of traditional transportation options.

We’re proud of our legacy and the trust the community has placed in us for over a century. Volunteers play a key role in helping us continue this work-whether through direct service, advocacy, or administrative support.
