Disaster Cycle Services
Logistics Fulfillment Service Associate
Get what is needed where and when it is needed!
- Activated exclusively during major national and regional disasters, such as multi-unit residential fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
- Resource and deliver materials during daily site visits throughout the disaster operation.
Responsibilities:
- Drive larger vehicles (e.g., 16’ box trucks, cargo vans, etc.) delivering materials and supplies to and from mass care shelter sites.
- Receive material and supply requests, building strong relationships with mass care shelter workforce.
- Provide feedback on unmet shelter needs, help shelter sites monitor inventory levels, and anticipate future requests.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings and stay current on all training.
- Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor.
Commitment:
- Minimum deployment of 2 weeks for national events; travel, lodging, meals covered; 2-3 days for regional events.
- Many scheduled opportunities at various times, including nights and weekends, during periods when there is not a major disaster response operation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 18 with valid driver’s license; must be comfortable driving larger vehicles.
- Familiarity with the proper moving, lifting, and storing of materials.
- Ability to function in a dynamic and stressful environment.
- Prepared to interact with mass care shelter personnel in a compassionate manner.
- Ability to ensure work is conducted in alignment with Red Cross fundamental principles and within established guidelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills along with ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English. Bilingual (English/Spanish) volunteers needed too!
- Comfortable working independently and able to maintain flexibility in continuously changing environments.
