Welcome Center Operations

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Volunteers will assist park staff in an interpretative role in the Sheriff's House, the new Welcome Center of First State National Historical Park (NHP). In this position, volunteers can help with various tasks in the Welcome Center, greet and direct visitors, and provide information to visitors about the exhibits or other park information. Volunteers will play an important role in helping visitors plan their visit to the park by providing information at the Welcome Center. Volunteers may also assist with research and creating resources for use by park rangers at First State NHP. Volunteers may also assist with video creation and editing. Volunteers may also be asked to work at special events in an interpretive role as they relate to the Welcome Center. Volunteers must follow all safety protocols while performing the assigned tasks.


Volunteers are expected to complete at least 2 hours per week to maintain active status. Volunteers should be available to assist in 2-4 hour shifts on Mondays.


Interested volunteers should exhibit a passion for history or nature, working with children and the general public, and a desire to provide excellent customer service. Volunteers must be comfortable talking with large groups. Volunteers will be interviewed by park staff.
