Program Summary: We are searching for a volunteer to host a weekly coloring group at our Golda Meir House campus in Newton. We are searching for a volunteer who enjoys coloring, socializing with others, and has a desire to work with older adults.
Locations: Golda Meir House, 160 Standon Ave, Newton, MA 02466
Key responsibilities:
Facilitate the weekly coloring group, with flexibility that participation may vary.
Encourage residents to participate and socialize with residents who attend
Impact Goal: The goal of art programming is to promote social connection for residents, and to provide opportunity for creativity and expression.
Qualifications:
14 years of age or older (must be 16+ if volunteering outside of business hours)
An interest in creating art and coloring
Confidence to facilitate an activity independently
Willingness to help, friendly attitude, and enjoys socializing with residents.
Time Commitment/Schedule: Once a week for 1 hour. Schedule is flexible. Volunteer must commit to at least 3 months and keep a regular schedule.
Benefits: Obtain experience working with older adults, share the passion of art across generations, become a part of a community doing joyful work, cultivate new intergenerational friendships.

2Life Communities, a nonprofit organization founded in 1965, operates on the belief that all seniors should have the opportunity to live a full life of connection and purpose in a dynamic, supportive environment - a model we call aging in community, which directly combats the growing public health crisis of social isolation and loneliness amongst older adults. 2Life is a senior housing developer, owner, operator, and advocate, with residents at the center of everything we do.
At 2Life Communities, residents can step out the doors of their own apartments and find friendship, community, physical and intellectual stimulation, and a helping hand day or night. Serving a diverse population of 1,800 older adults, 2Life creates communities with a laser sharp focus on affordability - a tremendous concern given that Massachusetts is the state with the 2nd largest gap in the U.S. between seniors’ median income and the cost of living.
