Roller Skate Teacher Needed

Participants of our 149 th Day Habilitation and South Bronx Day Habilitation are coming together to learn to roller skate. These day habs are skill building programs where people with intellectual/development disabilities receive training for daily living skills, such as communication and self-preservation, community awareness, independent living and pre-vocational skills. In May through August, they are learning to go roller skating! Volunteers are needed at Riverbank State Park Wednesdays from 10am to 11:30am to assist the coach in teaching 10-15 people (with staff and other volunteers) in the fundamentals of roller skating. Volunteer must bring their own skates and protective equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coaching 10-15 people in the fundamentals of roller skating
- Be sensitive to people with intellectual/development disabilities
- Be available on Wednesdays from 10am to 11:30am at Riverbank State Park
Preferred Skills
- Have experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities
- Willingness to learn
- Coaching experience
- Rollerskating experience
