VetBiz is seeking seven dynamic new Board Members to help advance our mission of empowering Veteran Business Owners across Missouri, Kansas, and Southern Illinois. Our board is strong, engaged, and committed to strategic governance - and we’re expanding to fill specific gaps as we grow our reach and impact.
We are looking for leaders with passion and professional experience in areas such as:
- Finance & Budget Oversight
- Programs & Strategic Planning
- Governance & Board Development
- Fund Development
- Marketing & Communications
- Outreach & Partnerships
Board members at VetBiz play a critical role in ensuring our programs remain impactful, accountable, and aligned with the unique needs of Veterans in our region. As a Board Member, you'll contribute your time, talent, and network to help Veterans not only start businesses - but thrive as leaders, innovators, and job creators.
If you're ready to make a meaningful difference and serve on a mission-driven board that reflects and supports our tri-state region’s Veteran community - we’d love to hear from you.
Why Join the VetBiz Board?
- You want to make a real difference in the lives of Veterans.
- You believe in the power of entrepreneurship to create opportunity and freedom.
- You’re ready to bring your leadership, lived experience, or expertise to a mission that matters.
- You want to serve on a board that values action, diversity, and results - not just titles.
- You’ll help shape how Veterans start, grow, and exit businesses successfully across our region.
What to Expect :
Q: Do I have to be a Veteran to serve?
A: No. We welcome both Veterans and non-Veterans who are passionate about serving those who’ve served.
Q: Is this a fundraising board?
A: While we hope all members support fund development efforts, we also need skills in governance, finance, programs, and outreach.
Q: What’s the ideal candidate profile?
A: Strategic thinkers who bring diverse experience, regional representation, and a commitment to advancing Veteran-owned businesses.
Q: How often does the Board meet?
A: The full Board meets quarterly, with optional strategic sessions as needed.
Q: Are meetings in-person or virtual?
A: Most meetings are virtual, but we host two in-person gatherings each year - one in St. Louis and one in Kansas City - to strengthen board collaboration and regional connection.
Q: Am I required to serve on a committee?
A: Yes. All Board Members are expected to serve on at least one standing committee (e.g., Fund Development, Programs, Finance, Governance, Board Development).
