BrasArte is hosting a fundraising event on Saturday, May 10 in support of our contingent, Bloco Ginga Brasil, parading in the 47th annual San Francisco Carnaval which takes place Memorial Day weekend.

We are looking for volunteers to help our fundraising event be a success! We are specifically looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Set Up: Get the space ready for our event (4pm - 7pm); seeking 7 volunteers
  • Check-in: Welcome guests and check tickets (9pm - 11pm); seeking 2 volunteers
  • Tear down: Help clean up after the festivities! (11pm - 12pm); seeking 5 volunteers

This year, Ginga Brasil will be focusing on Brazil’s rich Afro-Brazilian history and culture, highlighting the resistance and resilience of its people. At this Festa do Ginga, we are seeking raise funds to help cover the many expenses needed to proudly represent the dances, music, and culture of Brazil at this longstanding Bay Area event.

One of the few arts and cultural organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area with a focus specifically on preserving the traditional dances and music of Brasil, BrasArte focuses on providing events and activities which enrich the lives of both Bay Area residents with Brasilian roots and those with an interest in discovering more about Brasil's extensive traditions.

BrasArte has four major goals:

1 To preserve the traditional dances and music of Brasil
2 To preserve the historical roots of Brasil's vibrant culture by helping to support and care for its aging artists and mentors
3 To nurture new and emerging artistic talent through free and low-cost classes for children and youth
4 To provide cultural exchange between Brasil and the United States
