Board Member
Serving on Affirmation’s Board of Directors is a chance to lead change and make a real difference. As a board member, you’ll help guide the organization’s direction, ensure financial sustainability, support fundraising efforts, and shape policies that empower our global community. You’ll also collaborate with passionate people, lead or join committees that align with your interests, and represent Affirmation as a positive voice for LGBTQIA+ Mormons everywhere. It’s leadership with purpose, and your perspective matters.
We’re seeking individuals with strong leadership qualities and a deep connection to our mission-those with experience in nonprofit governance, fundraising, or a lived connection to the LGBTQ and/or Mormon community. We’re especially interested in candidates with skills in professional fundraising, digital strategy, community organizing, public relations, human resources, or legal expertise.

Mission Statement
Affirmation creates worldwide communities of safety, love, and hope and promotes understanding, acceptance, and self-determination of individuals of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions. We affirm the inherent self-worth of LGBTQIA+ individuals as complete, equal, and valuable persons and support them as they define their individual spirituality and intersection with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Description
To be a refuge to land, heal, share, and be authentic.
In Affirmation’s 40+ year history of creating and sustaining a community of support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals with a current or former relationship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it has been important that Affirmation review and renew and revise its mission, vision, and objectives from time to time to best serve the present needs of the people the organization serves.
Our Strategic Objectives are to: (1) Build Human-Centered Capacity and Resources, (2) Cultivate Spiritual Well-being, (3) Increase Visibility and Accessibility, (4) Foster Collaboration and Dialogue, and (5) Develop Financial Strength.
