On Saturday, May 31 st, we are hosting the first Angelman Strong Superhero 5K & All-Abilities Fun Run at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, CO.

Angelman Strong is calling heroes of all ages and abilities to join in a day of fun, raising awareness, and fundraising to support individuals living with Angelman syndrome. Angelman syndrome (AS) is a rare neurogenetic condition caused by a loss of function on the 15th chromosome. Those living with AS are known for their incredible smiles, laughter, and easily happy and excitable personalities. But, they also face many challenges including significant developmental delays, severe epilepsy, sleep, GI, and balance disorders, and a complete lack of speech. For those who it touches, Angelman syndrome changes lives forever.

We are seeking volunteers ages 14+ to help with two volunteer shifts:

6-10:30 AM Shift: Event set-up, welcoming guests, registration, and packet pick-up
8:30-1 PM Shift: Registration, packet pick-up, event activities, and clean-up

We will host virtual Volunteer Pre-Event Huddles on Thursday, May 29th at Noon and 7:30 PM MTN. While not required, these meetings are highly recommended to ensure volunteers are adequately prepared for their volunteer shifts.

Volunteers ages 14-16 years old must have a parent or guardian on site.

All proceeds of this event support the Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF), a 501c3 nonprofit organization. This organization has remained a steadfast cornerstone of support to the entire AS community for more than 30 years. Their work literally changes lives as they invest in transformative research bringing real hope for life-changing therapeutics closer than ever, have paved the path to world-class clinical care for all affected by AS, impactful advocacy, and robust family support services.
