Khambatta Dance Company, the producing organization, has been a fixture in the Seattle dance scene for over 30 years, known for thought-provoking choreography and community-building collaborations.

Mission Statement

Khambatta Dance Company’s (KDC) mission is to connect artists and audiences through the exploration of contemporary issues, emotionally resonant performances, and a collaborative process of dance creation, reaching out to the community in an inclusive manner. Through its signature program, the Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF), the Company seeks to unify communities annually showcasing the work of over 150 local, regional and international dance artists and over 40 dance groups who exemplify the diversity of contemporary dance practices and the richness of human experience.

Description

KDC was incorporated in New York in 1993 and moved to Seattle in 2001. Since then, its programming has reached over 85,000 people including works ranging from site-specific pieces to staged, full-length multidisciplinary productions, to commissions for government functions and other events. During this time, it has focused on making its work accessible to a wider audience through free, outdoor performances supported by local businesses and community organizations, presenting to a Seattle audience of 5,000 annually.
