Crystal Springs is the only cold water tributary to Johnson Creek and is a refuge for salmonids. Join the Crystal Springs Partnership to continue creating healthy habitat along the creek.

When: Sunday, May 18th, 9:00am-12noon
Where: Brannen Natural Area, SE 21st and Umatilla, Portland, OR 97202
What to bring: Bring a filled water bottle and snacks. You’re welcome to bring gloves and tools, if you want to use your own.
What to wear: Dress for the weather! Wear long, thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and sturdy, close-toed shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring a raincoat or a hat and sunscreen, as appropriate.
What we will provide: Tools and snacks will be provided, but you may want to bring your own gloves. We can also provide bus fare to and from the event. Please contact info@jcwc.org to arrange bus fare.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult. This work is around and near prickly plants and can be challenging for young children. We recommend children ages 12 and up for this type of event.
Health and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.
Accessibility: This event may require standing for long periods, walking over uneven ground, going up or down steep slopes, bending, and lifting heavy objects. Some of the site is accessed by climbing over a ~3ft tall split rail fence. The area is mostly flat with tall grasses. Some of the site is accessible from a paved sidewalk. A non ADA portable bathroom will be available.

Directions to the site:
By car: 8220 SE 21st Ave is the nearest address. You can park on either SE 21st or SE Umatilla. Please be aware of neighbor's driveways.
By bike: From SE Tacoma St, turn South on SE 21st Ave. Arrive at Brannen Natural Area.
By transit: Take bus line 70 and get off at SE 17th & Tenino or SE 17th & Umatilla walk East to SE 21st Ave and Arrive at Brannen Natural Area. By MAX, take the Orange line and exit at SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek, walk North on the pedestrian pathway to the East of the station, turn right on SE Tacoma, turn right on SE 21st Ave, arrive at Brannen Natural Area.

Description
The Johnson Creek Watershed Council was formed in 1994 to fill the need for a single organization which could have the entire watershed as its focus. The JCWC provides an important opportunity for community members to participate in enhancing the resource that flows through their neighborhoods and communities. In 2001, the Council became a 501(c)3 non-profit.
