Mission Statement
Hospice of the West was founded in 2010 with the mission to provide quality of life at the end of life. No request is too small, and no health need is too large for our specialized staff to address. Our values are compassion, accountability, communication, enthusiasm, and excellence.
Description
We provide care to all age groups during the final stages of life. Patients have an experienced team of physicians, registered nurses, certified nurse aides, medical social workers, counselors, and trained volunteers available to help them and their family manage their illness. Hospice of the West is focused primarily on comfort and pain management for our patients. Patients are cared for wherever they call home.
Volunteers can choose from a variety of opportunities:
Support for patients visiting, reading, writing letters, bringing in music, walk a pet, companionship, assist with shopping, light housekeeping, light laundry and folding, prepare a light meal
Respite and support for family members allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands, exercise, or simply have time alone
Share your special skills and interests musicians/singers, barbers and beauticians (licensed), light yard work, licensed pet therapy visits, art, crafts, scrapbooking/photo albums
Bereavement support programs assisting a support group facilitator, serving refreshments, or helping with mailings to families
Whatever the desires and wishes of the volunteer we can likely find a role for them.
