Help support LA's BEST annual Summerland event, organized by leadership where site staff attend workshops and learn how to create fun and educational summer activities for their students. Over 800 site staff will be in attendance, choosing workshops from various topics including Ceramics with Clay, Decoding Emotions, and Science in a .

Why: LA's BEST is looking for Project Leaders to support their annual event, Summerland, to prepare their staff for summertime programming. This engaging event features three fun sessions focused on developing leadership skills, strengthening teamwork, exploring social-emotional growth, and many more topics! By assisting this event, you will help support staff to create positive and enriching environments where LA youth can learn and thrive. Join us in empowering LA's next generation!

Who: LA's BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program plays a vital role in the lives of more than 25,000 unique and talented elementary school students who come from neighborhoods with the fewest resources and the greatest needs. Every school day, BEST students receive a nutritious meal, help with their homework, and the opportunity to participate in a wide array of enrichment activities. LA's BEST engages children creatively, emotionally, intellectually, and physically; empowering them to explore and discover the opportunities in their lives.

What to Expect:

As a project leader, you will help lead volunteers in doing the following projects:

Unload supplies from box truck and vans.

Setting up necessary chairs and stages for events.

Making sure volunteers understand their responsbilites assigned by on-site coordiantor.

Facilitating the proper organization and cleanliness of venues.

Providing high levels of customer service.

Welcoming guests to the venue and guiding them to their respective location.

Setting up and take down of event.

Providing relevant information to event attendees and volunteers.

Aiding in event packing before and after the event.

As a project leader you may also be asked to do the following:

Help your on-site coordinators unload and pack up their event supplies.

Ensure volunteers are working safely, efficiently, and are having fun!

All project leaders will receive training the day of. No experience is necessary!

Water and light snacks will be provided.

There are 2 Project Leader shifts. We are needing 1-3 Project Leaders for each one:

Here are the 2 separate shifts:

Shift 1: 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Shift 2: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

What's Required:

No experience necessary!

Must be able to lift up to 10-40lbs (or ask for other tasks by emailng the Opportunity Leader; most heavy lifting will be done in pairs)

Must be able to be on your feet during your shift in order to move throughout the event.

On-site free parking is available for all volunteers. More details will be provided upon signup!

Although not required, Spanish speakers are encouraged to sign-up!
