Trail Tidy-up: Clear Buck Island Trails for National Trails Day!
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
Join us for a rewarding day of trail maintenance at our beautiful parks as we work together to preserve and enhance our beloved outdoor spaces! On June 7th, we invite enthusiastic volunteers of all ages to roll up their sleeves and help maintain the trails that connect our community to nature. Tasks will include clearing debris, repairing pathways, and ensuring the trails remain safe and accessible for all visitors. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, learn about the local flora and fauna, and meet fellow nature lovers passionate about conservation. Your hard work will not only enhance the experience for future hikers and explorers but also contribute to the overall health of our park ecosystems.
When: Friday, June 7th, from 9:00 am to noon (must RSVP). We will meet at Green Cary Marina at 8:45 am to take the boat to the island and return just after noon.
Where: Buck Island Reef National Monument Trails.
Our Goal: NPS staff and volunteers will work together to clean up the trails at Buck Island. Please make sure you bring water, snacks, sun protection, close-toed shoes that can get wet (avoid flip flops and slides, they can make you experience more difficult), and swimwear for a post event swim. There will be water coolers available to refill water bottles. NPS will provide all necessary supplies for the event.
Registration: Please register at Volunteer.gov for this opportunity by June 5th. Due to limited boat space if you are not registered for this opportunity, we may not be able to accommodate you or your group.
Let’s unite to keep our trails beautiful and welcoming for everyone to enjoy!
