Planting for the Pollinators: Native Plant Outplanting Event
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
Join us for an exciting volunteer event at Salt River Bay as we plant native plants to restore vital pollinator communities and enhance our local ecosystems! On June 20th, we invite nature lovers, families, and community members to come together for a day of hands-on conservation work that supports bees, butterflies, and other essential pollinators. By planting native species, we’ll help create a thriving habitat that promotes biodiversity and improves the health of our environment.
When: Friday, June 20th, from 9:00 AM to noon.
Everyone is to gather at Christiansted National Historic Site at 8:00 AM, in order to caravan to the site. If individuals want to drive separately or meet at the site, please email kristen_ewen@nps.gov for directions.
Where: Salt River Bay NHP and EP.
Our Goal: NPS staff and volunteers will work together to plant flowering and fruiting plants around Salt River Bay.
Registration: Sign up today! Don't forget to register below to secure your attendance and receive extra information!
Please make sure you bring water, snacks, sun protection, and close-toed shoes (avoid flip flops and slides, they can make you experience more difficult). There will be water coolers available to refill water bottles.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of pollinators in our ecosystem and how native plants contribute to their survival. Together, let’s make a positive impact on Salt River Bay and ensure that our beautiful landscape flourishes for years to come!
