Join the Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) for a weekday volunteer stewardship session on Wednesday, May 28th 1 PM - 3 PM!
Volunteers will work under the guidance of the FOPOS stewardship staff to perform ecological restoration and invasive species removal in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve.
Spring is here! Volunteers will head out to one of our forest or riparian restoration sites for critical tasks such as invasive species removal, spring planting, or installing cages around native plants to protect them from deer & beaver browse. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend time outdoors and make a real difference, this is the perfect chance to get involved and help protect our local ecosystem.

Mission Statement
Founded in 1969, we are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization devoted to the following:
In Princeton: Acquiring open space for preservation, protecting natural resources, maintaining and extending trails and providing environmental education.
In the Princeton Region: Working with other groups to support efforts to preserve and protect open space and the environment.
Description
Friends of Princeton Open Space is a non-profit organization that has helped establish over 1,000 acres of parkland and a network of interconnecting trails that nearly circles Princeton. Through the contributions of hundreds of people in the community, FOPOS helped to raise $4.5 million for the purchase of land and acquisition of easements on properties that might have been bulldozed for development. In addition to property acquisition, FOPOS also leads in land stewardship, from creating and maintaining hiking trails, including boardwalks and footbridges, to the removal of invasive species and the replanting of native varieties. FOPOS sponsors nature walks and plant workshops that are free and open to the public.
