Dawg Walk

The Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta is a fun-filled day where pets and owners alike enjoy contests, games, demonstrations and a ceremonial walk around Deer Run Park in Nashville. This year's event will take place on Sunday, May 18th from Noon to 2:30pm. Last year, approximately 150 dogs and over 300 people attended the Walk.

As with all of our events, volunteers are the key to making this day a success. It takes over 70 people to make this day possible. Volunteers help with setup of the event in the morning and then during the event volunteers help to run one of our seven games, help sell tickets and merchandise to attendees or help in many other ways.

The day is broken out into the following shifts:

9am to 11:30am: Event Setup

11:30am to 3pm: Event help (running a game, selling tickets, etc.)

2:30 to 4pm: Cleanup and teardown

About Brown County Humane Society

Location:

128 SR 135 South, Nashville, IN 47448, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the Brown County Humane Society is to be a community resource dedicated to promoting the welfare of all animals in our county. We provide temporary shelter to pets in need and promote adoption of homeless pets into loving, permanent homes. We advocate respect for animals through public education concerning responsible pet ownership. We support and promote spaying and neutering to ultimately eliminate pet overpopulation in our community.

Description

The Brown County Humane Society is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing for the health and well-being of the animals of Brown County. We offer a number of services to promote animal health and education about their care.

BCHS operates an open-admission shelter for cats and dogs from Brown County. We are very proud to have an outstanding annual save rate of 95% or more since 2010. No animals in our care are euthanized unless they are deemed too dangerous to be in the community or are too ill and suffering from an illness that can't be treated. All adoptable animals stay with us until a home can be found.

BCHS also provides community programs such as low-cost spay/neuter services, annual rabies clinics, temporary pet food assistance for families in need, shelters for outdoor pets, trap-neuter-return for feral cat colonies, and educational programs.
