Volunteer Description for Language Conversation Clubs (LCC)

Prince George’s County Memorial Library Volunteer Program

The role of the LCC facilitator is to plan and lead activities that promote oral conversation skills in various languages for adult learners in a welcoming, fun, and respectful environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate activities designed for adult language learners.

  • Ability to work with language learners at different levels (i.e. beginner to intermediate).

  • Increase the learners’ awareness of the American culture and idioms that are commonly used.

Qualifications:

● Must have written and verbal proficiency in the subject language.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

● Must be a high school graduate or have a GED diploma; undergraduate degree preferred.

● Ability to work as part of a team with other volunteers and library staff.

Time Commitment and Location:

The LCC sessions are offered throughout the year. Volunteer time commitments are negotiable and flexible.
