Position Overview

Blank Theatre Company is seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. Board members play a critical role in guiding the strategic direction, ensuring financial health, and advocating for the mission of the theatre. This is a volunteer, unpaid position for individuals who are eager to make an impact on the arts in Chicago and help shape the future of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Governance & Strategy: Contribute to the development and refinement of Blank Theatre Company’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.
• Financial Oversight: Provide oversight of financial matters, ensuring the organization remains fiscally responsible, including approval of budgets and financial reports.
• Fundraising & Advocacy: Actively participate in fundraising initiatives, secure donations, and advocate for the company to potential donors, community members, and local organizations.
• Ambassadorship: Represent Blank Theatre Company at events, performances, and in the community to build relationships and support our mission.
• Advisory Role: Offer guidance, expertise, and mentorship in areas including but not limited to law, finance, marketing, and community relations.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in nonprofit governance, financial oversight, or fundraising
• Willingness to dedicate time, energy, and expertise to further the mission of Blank Theatre Company
• Ability to commit to a minimum one-year term, with potential for renewal
• A passion for the arts, theatre, and community engagement

Time Commitment

• Approximately 4-6 hours per month, including meetings and occasional events
• Quarterly board meetings (virtual)
• Availability for committee work, fundraising campaigns, and special events as needed
