Campground Host - Silver Mines Recreation Area

Mark Twain National Forest is seeking campground hosts to serve at Silver Mines Recreation Area, located on the St. Francis River, the only river in Missouri classified as "white water," and is used for kayaking during the spring high waters. The area offers a variety of recreational opportunities to include hiking and fishing and abundant historic and geological wonders. Nearby natural attractions include Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnsons Shut-ins State Park.
If background check is passed, the cost of the background will be reimbursed by FS. Unforeseen or emergency purchases on case-by-case basis. Examples including but not limited to repairs to hookup for host, replacement of items to golf cart, fuel for machines host operates. Will provide a $26.00 per day spent on site camping and preforming volunteer hours. Will provide for free camp site (including water, electric, phone, and septic), Job Hazard Analysis, cleaning supplies, Golf Cart (if available), list of emergency contacts and personal protective equipment will be provided by the Forest Service. Campsite will be kept clean at all times. Host will adhere to the Public Burden Statement in this agreement which addressed Civil Rights antidiscrimination/ harassment. Monthly time sheets will be turned in to obtain reimbursement.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
· Make yourself available in a welcoming manner to speak with visitors.
· Main peek time needed on site is from Thursday evening to Monday mornings.
· Ability to mow and trim is a plus but not required.
· Upkeep of vault toilet buildings, including cleaning and stocking.
· Post reservations provided by Forest Service Management.
· Report flood water encroachment into overnight camping facilities.
· Campground rules should be communicated; however, law enforcement issues are managed by appropriate personnel other than the volunteer host.
