About Us
At Precious Project, we are dedicated to empowering communities in Tanzania by providing education, access to resources and support to those who need it most. Our mission is to help eradicate poverty in the rural community of Nishupu by delivering transformative education and personal growth opportunities. Through our orphanage, primary school (serving 545 children), and secondary school (serving 650 children), we are building the future leaders of Tanzania. We use innovative educational approaches and methodologies to achieve measurable results and positively impact the lives of children.

Who We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking passionate, committed, and experienced individuals to join our Board of Directors as volunteer members. If you’re driven to make a difference and bring valuable expertise to the table, we’d love to hear from you. Board members play a pivotal role in steering the direction of the Precious Project and helping us expand our impact in Tanzania.
Board Member ResponsibilitiesParticipate in quarterly board meetings and contribute insights to guide key decisions
Help shape the strategy and direction of PreciousProject.org, particularly as we scale our programs
Support financial oversight by reviewing budgets, fundraising efforts, and sustainability plans
Serve as an ambassador for our mission, vision, and work within your networks
Assist with fundraising and offer input on how we grow and thrive
Review and approve major organizational decisions and policies
Offer your expertise to committees or projects, with a focus on supporting the children in our care
Stay informed on organizational developments, with opportunities to visit Tanzania and engage with our programs directly
A deep passion for our mission to improve the lives of children and end poverty at the village level
Leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit governance, education, fundraising, or community engagement
Willingness to dedicate 10-15 hours per month, including involvement in committees and special initiatives
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively, both remotely and in person
Interest in visiting Tanzania to witness the impact of your work and support our programs on the ground
A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in the context of global development
Experience or demonstrated interest in nonprofit work or education in Africa is highly valued
A proactive mindset - we’re looking for board members who are ready to lead, take initiative, and get things done

Mission Statement
The mission of Precious Project is to offer high quality education and care to orphaned and vulnerable children in rural Tanzania.
Description
We partner with the local community in Nshupu, Tanzania to provide a Primary School, Children's Home, Community Center and an organic farm, and improve agricultural development through sustainable environmental practices. Precious Project also supports women's empowerment groups that foster economic self-sufficiency. We need to continue our existing support while they build self-sustainability plus we plan to build a secondary school.
