Youth Action Services: Seeking Fun-Loving Volunteers!
Make a Difference on Saturdays in Brooklyn!
Do you enjoy working with children and want to make a positive impact? Youth Action Services is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to lead activities for our six-week summer pilot program for children in NYC Municipal Shelters (ages 6-19) in Brooklyn, NYC.
What You’ll Do:
Lead fun and engaging recreational and educational activities.
Help create a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn, play, and grow.
Bring smiles and laughter to children’s lives!
When:
Saturdays, for six weeks this summer (July 6 - August 19)
Volunteer for any Saturday(s) that fit your schedule!
Sessions can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 2 hours - you choose!
Where:
Brooklyn, NYC (Specific location to be provided)

Activity Ideas/Examples (Ages 6-19):
Recreational Activities:
Sports and Active Games: Basketball, soccer, kickball, relay races, obstacle courses, tag games, freeze tag, jump rope, hula hoop contests.
Creative Activities: Arts and crafts (drawing, painting, making friendship bracelets), music and dance (organize a dance-off, teach simple dance routines), drama games, improvisation.
Board Games and Card Games: Age-appropriate board games (e.g., checkers, Uno, Scrabble), card games (e.g., Go Fish, Crazy Eights).
Outdoor Activities: Nature walks (if location allows), scavenger hunts, picnics.
Group Games: Team-building activities, icebreakers, talent shows.
Educational Activities:
Reading: Read-aloud sessions with discussions, book clubs, creative writing prompts based on reading materials, vocabulary building games, reading comprehension exercises.
Writing: Journaling, story writing, poetry writing, essay writing (for older students), letter writing.
Math: Math games, real-life math problems (budgeting, cooking, measurement), geometry activities, algebra introduction (for older students), math worksheets and exercises.
Life Skills: Cooking lessons (basic recipes), budgeting and money management, time management and organization, communication skills, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Goal Setting: Setting short-term and long-term goals, creating action plans, identifying strengths and weaknesses, motivation and perseverance.
Enrichment: Art projects, music activities, drama activities, guest speakers, cultural presentations, basic computer skills, coding introduction, digital literacy.

Youth Action Services, Inc’s mission is to embrace and empower children in the NYC municipal shelter system by providing our participants with resources to continue on the next success level.
Description
Youth Action Services, Inc is a new 501c3 organization. Understanding Brooklyn, NY serves some of the cities poorest neighborhoods which includes high number of homelessness. I am pleased to introduce this new organization as it is the mission, duty, and purpose of You Action Services, Inc to address, educate, coordinate and provide tools to children who have been impacted by losing their home. The services we plan to provide include After-School program; mentoring program; summer day camp; and therapeutic services. We are connecting with professionals to help fulfill our mission and also taking necessary steps to become an outpatient clinic under article 31.

REQUIREMENTS
