The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to support the programs and initiatives of [Veterans Nonprofit Organization Name]. This role ensures that volunteers are effectively integrated into the organization, maximizing their contributions while providing a meaningful experience. The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with staff, veterans, and community partners to ensure volunteer efforts align with the mission of serving and supporting veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to attract individuals passionate about supporting veterans.
- Manage the volunteer application, screening, and onboarding process.
- Develop and facilitate orientation and training programs for new volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to align with organizational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation, hours, and impact.
- Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing ongoing support and recognition.
- Organize appreciation events and activities to recognize volunteer contributions.
- Work with program staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures related to volunteers.
- Foster relationships with community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to promote volunteer opportunities.
- Track and report volunteer program metrics to leadership.
Qualifications:
- Passion for supporting veterans and a commitment to the organization’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, human resources, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in volunteer coordination, recruitment, or nonprofit work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer management software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Experience working with veterans or military-affiliated individuals is a plus.
