Volunteer with Heart of Compassion to help serve families across Los Angeles during Mother's Day on May 10th!
Why: Heart of Compassion is hosting a celebratory Mother's Day Event on Saturday, May 10, 2025! This event will primarily serve mom's, families, and is open to the public. Our Food Bank serves hundreds of families and is entirely made possible by our loyal donors, volunteers, and partners. Your generous time, enthusiasm, and support play a meaningful role in fighting hunger and feeding hope in communities across the region.
Who: Heart of Compassion (HOC) Distribution Food Bank aims to be a lighthouse of volunteers fighting poverty and restoring hope
What to Expect:
Volunteers must be flexible and willing to work in different areas.
Registration
Traffic control
Security
Serving lunch
Item distribution
Decoration and Break Room Maintenance

What's Required:
Volunteers must be 13 years or older. If you are a minor, we must have a signed Waiver from Parent/Guardian must be signed prior to volunteering.
If you are completing Court-Referred Community Service, you must confirm that you're properly onboarded with Site Staff prior to volunteering.

Description
Heart of Compassion is dedicated to being a lighthouse of hope and help for Montebello and our local communities. We rely on our valuable volunteers to help us achieve our mission of Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope. We currently provide loads of groceries for about 600 families weekly at our public food distributions.
Mondays 9a.m.-12p.m.: volunteers needed to bag produce
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8-11a.m.: volunteers needed to register recipients
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9a.m.-12p.m.: volunteers needed to load groceries into shopping carts and recipient vehicles
