Volunteer with Bright Path Center as a grant writer to donate time, resources, and talent to support their important mission.
Why: This volunteer role will impact the organization in several ways, including; increasing the financial resources to the organization, help clarify goals, identify key needs, and articulate a clear vision for the future. Also, having a dedicated volunteer grant writer allows the rest of the organization's staff to focus on their core competencies and service delivery.
Who: Bright Path Center aims to direct at risk individuals on a successful path and inspires them to make a meaningful difference in the world through a variety of wellness and enhancement programs.
What to Expect:
Develop and write letters of inquiry and proposals in response to solicitations for federal agencies as well as private foundations.
Assist with the grants processes including identification/qualification of opportunities, development of responses and financial reports
Take an active role in the identification of private funders and in the research and development of grant proposals to foundations and corporations that have potential to support new and ongoing program initiatives
Prepare customized proposals according to each foundation's guidelines, including: program budgets, timelines, goals, objectives, outcomes, and evaluation criteria for grants with the Executive director
Assist with researching foundations
Work with the Executive Director and program staff to produce funder reports in a timely and effective fashion
Assist the Executive Director in maintaining a strong and positive relationship with current and prospective grant funders through letter, email and phone correspondence
Work with staff to gain insight into local foundations and to gather local data/information about individual communities
What's Required:
Grant writing experience preferred but not required
Knowledge of non-profit funding sources preferred but not required
Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to plan/manage work flow on multiple projects simultaneously, and work with limited supervision
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Proofreading skills essential
Strong attention to detail
Flexible and strong work ethic
Desire to make a difference and be part of a unique not-profit organization

Description
Bright Path Center is a nonprofit organization 501c3 that was created in 2005. We provide outreach, facilitate educational programs, and provide individuals and families with transitional or permanent housing in the greater Los Angeles and Riverside areas.
HOUSING: Our housing services include transitional and permanent supportive housing, which is critical while assisting individuals and families trying to achieve housing stability.
Outreach: Our outreach program provides services to best meet the needs of our homeless clients, and to provide the resources they need to survive immediate crises and put them on the path to long-term stability.
Emergency Food Assistance Program: Our program offers both meals and grocery items to individuals in need. In addition our permanent supportive residential housing facilities have an onsite food pantry for residents.
EDUCATION: Bright Path Center provides workshops and trainings to help enhance the ongoing development towards a goal of independence, productivity, and self-determination.
