New Fork/Narrows Campground Ambassador
ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
We are actively recruiting a campground ambassador for the New Fork/Narrows Campground. The ambassador will typically stay at the Narrows Campground but would also be responsible for maintaining New Fork Campground, New Fork Group Site, New Fork Boat Ramp, and the New Fork Wilderness Trailhead.
New Fork Lake Campground is located 24 miles from Pinedale on the south end of New Fork Lake. New Fork Lake Campground is one of our "less busy" campgrounds, which many visitors prefer. There is an abundance of dispersed camping opportunities in the direct vicinity of the campground, however some visitors do prefer the conveniences of a developed campground. There is one double vault toilet located at the campground, and all sites offer a picnic table, fire ring, and bear box. A private camping site will be set aside for the campground ambassador to stay at. There are no trailer/RV hook ups available and the campground ambassador would be dry camping.
A camping ambassador is someone who provides visitors with education, information and keeps an eye on overall conditions of the area. They greet campers, ensure they are staying in a designated site, and provide them with information on how to camp responsibly: proper food storage in bear country, remembering to put out fires, and pack out trash.
Couples are welcome to apply, per diem reimbursement may be available, and start/end dates are somewhat flexible. You must have your own RV or trailer for this volunteer opportunity. The town of Pinedale has all the amenities you might need, including a grocery store, post office, many restaurants, a recreation center, laundromat, and a recently-built hospital.
