Position Summary:
Feline Foster Home Volunteers provide temporary homes for cats and kittens rescued from shelters, streets, unsafe situations. This role offers a calm, caring environment to help cats recover, socialize, and prepare for permanent adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide daily care including feeding, grooming, playtime and litter box maintenance
* Socialize cats to build trust and reduce fear or anxiety (where applicable)
* Monitor health and behavior; report any concerns promptly
* Administer medications or special diets as needed (with training and support)
* Transport cats to veterinary appointments or adoption events, as needed
* Take photos periodically and write bios to help promote the cat(s) for adoption
* Communicate regularly with the Director of Foster/Adoptions for updates or support
Qualifications: *MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ROCHESTER OR SURROUNDING AREA* * Experience with or willingness to learn about feline care and behavior * Ability to provide safe, indoor space to house foster cats separate from other animals if needed
* Ability to handle shy, scared cats
* Patience, compassion, and commitment to animal welfare
* Reliable transportation and basic communication skills
Time Commitment:
Varies depending on the cat-can range from 2 weeks to several months. Some may need short-term recovery time; others may require longer stays for socialization.

* Food, litter, toys, and medical care
* Training and 24/7 support from the rescue team
* Veterinary expenses covered by the Heavenly Paws of MI

Description
Heavenly Paws of Michigan is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 with a mission to save animals in overcrowded high-kill shelters, animals being surrendered due to poor economic conditions and animals who are surrendered due to their owner going into hospice care. Every year since 2009, we've rescued hundreds of dogs and cats from shelters or owners who surrendered their pets to our organization. We are a foster-based rescue organization so we don't have a shelter location. We rely on foster parents to take animals into their homes until we find permanent homes for them.
