ORGANIZATION: I Did Something Good Today Foundation

We seek a kind-hearted, reliable volunteer in the Woodland Hills area to provide friendship and occasional assistance to a senior woman in her mid-70s who is experiencing extreme isolation.

This wonderful senior relocated to California a year ago and has no local support system. She is physically limited ( uses a cane, occasional dizziness) and cannot drive, making her almost entirely homebound.

Your role would be to bring companionship, encouragement, and light support to brighten her days and help her reconnect with the world around her.

Volunteer Responsibilities
  • Friendly Visits: Stop by 1-2 times a week for conversation, lunch, or light activities (e.g., sharing hobbies, light reading, puzzles, etc.).
  • Social Support: Offer local orientation (where things are, how services work) and emotional encouragement.
  • Light Tech Help: Help with basic computer troubleshooting (if comfortable) or simple cell phone assistance.
  • Minor Tasks: Light assistance around the home (e.g., changing a lightbulb).
  • Resource Assistance: Share information about local services (optional, if interested).
  • Cat Lover Bonus: Friendly interaction with her three sweet, well-cared-for cats is a plus!

Important: This role is strictly social and supportive - it does not involve personal caregiving (like bathing, lifting, or medical care).

Ideal Volunteer
  • Patient, empathetic, and a good listener.
  • Comfortable working independently and proactively.
  • Familiar with basic technology (helping with a cell phone or simple online navigation).
  • Must pass a background check (covered by our organization).
  • Must be 21+ years old.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (required for the safety of the senior).
Time Commitment
  • Flexible! Ideally, 2-4 hours a week , depending on availability and needs.
  • Long-term commitment (at least 3 months preferred) to build trust and consistency.
Why This Matters

For seniors like this remarkable woman, a simple friendly visit can be life-changing - restoring hope, decreasing depression, and bringing genuine human connection back into their lives.

If you are interested in making a real difference, please apply TODAY!!!
