About Us:
Empowering Korean Immigrants (EKI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Korean immigrants in Canada through free English and Korean lessons, translation services, and children's book reading programs. Our mission is to build confidence, break language barriers, and raise awareness against discrimination within immigrant communities.

Position: Volunteer Tutor (English or Korean)

Description:
We are seeking passionate and committed volunteers to provide 1:1 online tutoring sessions to Korean immigrants and their families. Volunteers can choose to teach either English or Korean based on their strengths. Lessons are conducted online via Google Meet, focusing on conversation skills, basic literacy, cultural understanding, and/or homework help, depending on the student's needs.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct one-hour, once-a-week online lessons

• Prepare simple lesson plans tailored to the student's level (materials can be provided if needed)

• Encourage and support students in building language confidence

• Submit short lesson reports for record-keeping (template provided)

Requirements:

• Strong communication skills in English and/or Korean

• Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others

• Reliable internet connection and access to a computer

• Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an asset but not required - training and resources will be available
