Join Lyngblomsten’s Lifelong Learning & the Arts program and make a difference in the lives of older adults! As an Art with You Bedside Support Volunteer, you will engage one-on-one with residents who are unable to leave their rooms, bringing creativity and companionship through art-making. Volunteers will offer a variety of art projects and use their creativity to adapt activities to meet residents’ interests and needs.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate hands-on, one-on-one art-making sessions with residents.
- Offer multiple art projects and have backup ideas to engage residents.
- Revisit residents who may not initially show interest.
- Be patient and flexible, understanding that tasks may take time.
- Physically assist with tasks such as pushing an art cart and sitting on an armless stool.
Qualifications:
- Interest in the connection between arts and health.
- Ability to work independently with residents while maintaining a team spirit.
- Patience and adaptability to meet residents’ needs.
- Physically able to perform required tasks.
Time Commitment:
- 2 hours per week, meeting with 2-3 residents.
- Lists of residents to visit will be provided by the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator.
Training:
- 2-hour orientation and training, including shadowing a teaching artist.
- Additional 2-hour team meetings and training every other month.

Lyngblomsten provides compassionate care to older adults through residential and community services. Volunteers of all ages are welcomed to explore over 100 unique and varied opportunities. While short-term options may be available periodically, we encourage longer-term commitments given the exceptional level of orientation, training and on-going education Lyngblomsten provides in support of its volunteers.
