About the Role:
Friends of Mt. Pisgah is seeking a volunteer Grant Writer to help grow funding opportunities that support snowmaking improvements, youth programs, and mountain operations. The Grant Writer will research, identify, and apply for grants aligned with our mission to sustain community skiing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources

  • Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals and applications

  • Track application deadlines and reporting requirements

  • Collaborate with the board to gather necessary project details, budgets, and impact narratives

  • Maintain a record of grants applied for, awarded, or pending

Ideal Candidate:

  • Prior experience writing successful grant proposals strongly preferred

  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills

  • Organized and self-motivated, able to manage deadlines independently

  • Passion for community recreation, outdoor sports, or youth programs a plus

Time Commitment:
Approximately 6-8 hours per month, with flexible scheduling.

Friends of Mt. Pisgah is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to supporting and sustaining community skiing in Saranac Lake, New York. We raise funds to maintain and improve Mt. Pisgah Ski Area, including critical projects like upgrading snowmaking equipment to ensure reliable, high-quality skiing for local families. Beyond infrastructure, we focus on growing a strong ski culture through youth programs, community events, and fostering a welcoming environment for skiers of all ages and abilities. Our work helps keep skiing accessible, affordable, and vibrant in the Adirondacks - inspiring the next generation of skiers and preserving the mountain’s legacy for years to come.
