Job Title: Volunteer Humanitarian Mine Action / EOD Technician
Organization: Invictus Global Response & Invictus Global Response UA
Location: Ukraine - Conflict-Affected Regions (Operational areas vary)
Duration: 3-6 Months (based on mission needs and volunteer availability)
Reports To: Country Manager - Ukraine / Technical Advisor
Type: Volunteer (Unpaid; all costs borne by the volunteer)
Position Summary:
We are seeking highly qualified and self-funded Volunteer EOD Technicians with IMAS Level 3 or 3+ certification to join our humanitarian mine action operations across Ukraine. Volunteers will play a key role in clearance, survey, risk education, and technical mentoring within a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
This position is ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about humanitarian service and are prepared to self-deploy in support of a high-impact mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) operations at IMAS Level 3 or higher in accordance with IGR UA SOPs and national mine action standards.
- Participate in technical and non-technical surveys of suspected or confirmed hazardous areas.
- Clear landmines, UXO, and improvised devices using manual, mechanical, and detection dog-assisted methods.
- Support the delivery of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) to civilians in high-risk communities.
- Maintain accurate operational data and clearance records using GPS, GIS, and IMSMA-compliant tools.
- Mentor and support local clearance staff and national partners in technical tasks and safety practices.
- Conduct equipment checks, tool maintenance, and ensure explosive materials are securely handled.
- Uphold strict safety protocols and manage personal security in a conflict zone.
Essential Qualifications:
- IMAS Level 3 or 3+ EOD certification (mandatory).
- Minimum of 2 years field experience in humanitarian mine action or military EOD operations.
- Familiarity with UXO and munitions types commonly found in Ukraine (e.g., anti-tank mines, submunitions, IEDs).
- Understanding of IMAS, international humanitarian law, and civilian protection principles.
- Operational knowledge of mine detection tools, survey equipment, and reporting platforms.
- Fluent in English; working knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an asset.
- Proven ability to work in austere, high-risk environments with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Ukraine or other Eastern European conflict zones.
- First Aid, TECC, or Combat Lifesaver certification.
- Experience in delivering EORE or mentoring national clearance teams.
- Familiarity with IMSMA Core, ArcGIS/QGIS, and drone-assisted mapping.

Description
A 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, Invictus Global Response was first conceptualized in 2022 during the early days of the full-scale Russian Invasion of Ukraine, and officially formalized in 2023, Invictus Global Response is an international Non-Governmental Organization that exists to provide humanitarian assistance in conflict areas and other fragile states. Our mission is focused on the clearance of landmines and explosives, teaching civilians to identify explosive risks, and providing capacity-building support in the areas of mine action, stockpile reduction, and humanitarian assistance. Our vision is to empower local organizations, partner forces, and affected communities through impactful, cost-effective, and sustainable support.
Founded by military veterans with decades of experience in conflict and post-conflict zones, Invictus draws on decades of its streamlined and adaptable organizational structure, and extensive local networks to deploy people and resources to the very center of humanitarian crises. We also focus on the support of sustainable local grass-roots NGOs by enabling scalability of operations and continued capacity development. Invictus is currently liaising with groups working in conflict zones in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
