ORGANIZATION: COVENANT CUPBOARD FOOD PANTRY

PLEASE GO TO OUR SITE DIRECTLY TO SIGN UP https://signup.com/go/dwtRFgE

There are three shifts available on Fridays. You may sign up for 1 or more. If you sign up for the afternoon shift and would like to stay to help clean up, there is no need to sign up for the clean up shift as well; you may stay past 4:30 to help clean.

Friday morning from 9 to noon, we take donated food and sort/prep them so that clients in the afternoon can shop with ease. The main tasks are taking food an putting them in certain locations but it can also involve carrying food in from pick ups that are done Friday morning as well as cleaning up the area.

Friday afternoon from 12:30 to 4:30, is when clients will come in and you’ll be able to interact with them as they get food. You’ll be taking the carts that they use for shopping and bring it to their car (next to the driveway so you won’t actually have to go thru the parking lot). You’ll load the food and bring the carts back inside. The job requires inside/outside work so be prepared for weather. It’ll also involve cleaning the place as we go.

Mission Statement

The mission of Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry is to address the food security needs of seniors, disabled individuals, and the unemployed or underemployed households in our community in a compassionate, dignified and secure environment. Covenant Cupboard strives to: Provide households with food that meets USDA nutritional guidelines Provide information on preparing balanced meals In this setting, families in need of food receive non-perishable items, dairy, produce and grain products.

Description

Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry (CCFP) began in 1995 as a mission project of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant (PCOC). At that time, Arapahoe County was seeking community partners to assist with its mandate to provide federally-funded food to low income families. PCOC answered that call with a small group of volunteers for several years. As the need grew, other neighborhood churches joined. In 2004, a formal, all-volunteer Board of Directors was formed, and By-Laws and a Mission statement were written. Good Shepherd Episcopal, Saint Peter Lutheran and St Catherine Greek Orthodox Church have joined with Covenant Presbyterian D.T.C. who remain actively involved with leadership, volunteer, and financial support for the cupboard.
