Park host volunteer opportunity with USACE for the Galt's Ferry Day Use Area located on Allatoona Lake.
USACE Allatoona Lake Park Host Volunteer Qualifications for Galt's Ferry Day Use Area: available to work weekends and holidays with extended holiday hours, fulfill 20-25 volunteer hours per week, comfortable with public interaction and engagement, available to open/close park gates while on-duty and at the appropriate times as instructed, have a valid driver's license and personal vehicle that is reliable. A campsite with electricity (50 amp), water, and sewage will be provided in exchange for a 20/25-hour work week.
Volunteers will work some weekends and holidays with extended holiday hours. Duties include visitor assistance and information services such as redeeming USACE Annual Pass purchases, and frequent patrols throughout the park to ensure the compliance of general park rules by the public.
Background checks are required by USACE for volunteers who are volunteering for more than 6 consecutive months. The level of Background Investigation (BI) required will be Tier 1 (SAM Form 36 and OF 306)
The work environment is both indoors (working gatehouse) and outdoors (frequent park inspections). This is one of our busiest parks, so the workload can be quite difficult but easily manageable. Must be comfortable with working with others, including other sets of volunteers, USACE staff, and the general public.
Surrounded by Allatoona Lake wildlife (plants, trees, insects, animals). Also prone to dangerous weather hazards (thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, extreme cold/heat, etc.). Interactions with the public can also be hazardous under certain circumstances.
