2025 Ruey Classic Event Team

We are looking for sports and arts enthusiasts to help us plan and execute the 2025 Ruey Classic - our annual end-of-season celebration spotlighting our youth and honoring the memory of Founder Luis Herrera. For more information on SoulPhamm, please visit www.soulphamm.org.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 21st from 12:30pm to 4:30pm at the Newark YMCA, located at 600 Broad Street, 2nd Floor Gym, Newark, New Jersey.

The 2025 Event (as of this writing) will include the following activities-

• Championship Basketball Game
• Hip-Hop Majorette Dance Performance
• Cheerleading Performance
• Awards
• Food

The Event Team will help in the following ways-

• Set up and break down of the gymnasium (including setting up the score table, food station, music, helping pull bleachers out).
• Directing guests to their seats (certain areas are reserved for the players and performers) and to restrooms.
• Being a set of eyes and ears to make sure that people are contained in the gym.
• Assisting photographers and videographers as needed.
• Assisting our players and performers (making sure they have access to water as needed)
• Keeping game score and stats. Anyone REALLY knowledgeable about basketball can choose to be a "commentator".
• Assisting with music throughout the game and during performances.
• Assisting with the video presentation (if we're able to finalize it by then).
• Manning information tables (we will have application packets for new kids)
• Keeping us aware of time.
• Working with our Director, Coaches and Parent Coordinator as needed.

We will have two virtual update meetings in advance of the actual date. During these virtual meetings, we will assign team members to certain tasks so that everyone know what they will be responsible for as soon as they walk through the door.
