We are looking for EXPERIENCED current/former Cheerleaders or Dancers to serve as part of the judging panel for our 2025-2026 season tryouts that will be held on Saturday, June 21st from 11:00am to 2:00pm in Downtown Newark.
All of our current cheerleaders and dancers will be trying out - but there also will be new candidates. The role of the judging panel will be to help us determine whether the candidates should be put on our Elite squad (usually advanced dancers) or our Elevation squad (usually novice dancers). You will also help us choose captains.
Performing squad participants understand that they have the chance to advance to the competitive squad over time, while competitive squad participants can be "demoted" should they slack off.
We are seeking "fresh eyes" to eliminate any perceived "bias" from our current coaching team and staff. Judges will be given a rubric from which to judge. If time allows, judges can share critiques verbally, but will also have a chance to write their critiques on the rubric that we will share later. The judging panel will judge both cheerleaders and majorettes dancers together.

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
