On Sept. 21, we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Walk to Defeat ALS outside the State Capitol in downtown Sacramento. We expect to have at least 600 ALS patients, caregivers and community partners to join us for our Walk down Capitol Mall Ave.
This is an volunteer-driven event, and right now we need all of the day-of volunteers we can get. However, a more pressing need for our Walk is volunteers for our Walk committee, which meets once-a-month either virtually or in-person, to plan the Walk to Defeat ALS.
Volunteer Committee positions are flexible to give you the volunteer experience you desire, and can also help build the resume of an aspiring young professional or someone looking to return to the workforce. Lastly, sponsors are often asked to sit on our committee as well, and so our volunteer committee meetings are also a great place to network for your own goals and passions.
Bring yourself and what you can do to the Walk to Defeat ALS, and leave with a new connection to the Sacramento community and a sense of pride once our Walk is a success.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to make ALS livable and cure it.
Description
We are the world's leading ALS organization made up of volunteers who are living with ALS, loved ones, caregivers, advocates and dedicated staff. Our goal is to make ALS livable for everyone everywhere until we can cure it.
On the ground in all 50 states we are providing support for people living with ALS and their loved ones while funding the most promising ALS research in the world. We are also leading local and national advocacy efforts to deliver more funding for ALS research and better policies for those impacted by the disease.
Thanks to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and the generous support of our donors we have been able to dramatically accelerate the fight against ALS by funding the development of new ALS treatments, by discovering new ALS genes, by creating new global research collaborations and by significantly expanding access to ALS care.
Our commitment is that every person with ALS, regardless of where they live should be able to access high-quality care and effective treatments.
