ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

  1. Responsibilities
  • Organize, coordinate, convene mentoring, training, scheduling activities for State EOC liaisons.
  • Represent American Red Cross in meetings and exercises associated with State Emergency Management, State Departments, and TX Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD)
  • Keep state government disaster response agencies informed of American Red Cross activities.
  • Keep American Red Cross informed of state government disaster response agencies activities.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of State Government Liaison capability.
  • Represent the American Red Cross at planning meetings with various state level agencies/entities in disaster planning.
  1. Time Commitment
  • 20 hours per month with some availability during business hours, 1 year commitment
  • Available at least once per year for a two week deployment in support of the Texas State Operations Center
  1. Qualifications
  • Experience working with governmental partners such as State Emergency Management, State EOC Liaisons or VOAD
  • Build effective relationships with individuals who can help with work related goals, including building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Monitor and manage conflict with ability to spot problems early on and to take needed action so that flow and service delivery are not impacted.
  • Build strong-identity teams to diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
  • Adapts approach demeanor in real-time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain a positive approach in handling issues from partners.
  • Provide quick follow-up to understand the problem and provide a solution.
  • Exhibit confidence and professional diplomacy while effectively relating to people at all levels internally and externally.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to VOAD, State of Texas field offices as needed (primarily location in Austin with field offices also located throughout the state), and FEMA Region 6 Headquarters in Denton
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and American Red Cross policies
