Thanks for your interest in volunteering! We have a variety of opportunities available.
Direct Service Volunteers
Direct service volunteers work directly with clients through our victim services. Possible tasks include working in our safe houses, answering the hotline, and facilitating support groups. Direct service volunteers are required to complete a 20-hour certification training to become a certified domestic violence counselor before working with clients. This training is provided in-house by DVCC.
Indirect Service VolunteersIndirect service volunteers help with a wide variety of projects and initiatives including fundraising events, holiday program support, community projects, and outreach.
Examples of possible volunteering opportunites include:
- Safe House parties
- Administrative work
- Donation drives
- Food delivery
- Educational programs

DVCC's mission is to prevent and eliminate domestic violence by providing comprehensive services, support, and education. Our work is aimed at helping individuals build safe lives for themselves and their families while fostering awareness and prevention within the community.
Description
Since 1980, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) has provided counseling and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their children. DVCC is the only state-certified agency recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) serving the communities of Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Weston and Wilton.
DVCC’s role is to help those experiencing any level of domestic violence and assist them in building a safer environment for the well-being of themselves and their families. Our services include housing and financial advocacy, legal advocacy, trauma-informed individual and group counseling, and emergency safe housing. All victim services are free and confidential.
