Join Linked Family Services in bringing books, bonding, and brain-building to life! We’re seeking passionate, reliable volunteers to support our Little Readers, Big Families literacy program for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.

As a volunteer, you’ll assist with monthly family reading sessions by helping set up activities, greeting families, leading literacy games, or serving in our Reading Buddies Corner (reading 1:1 with a child or helping older siblings read to younger ones).

Perfect for:
Students pursuing degrees in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, or any helping profession, as well as caring community members who love working with children and families.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Welcoming and signing in families

  • Supporting interactive storytime and hands-on literacy stations

  • Reading aloud or engaging in play-based learning

  • Assisting with event setup and cleanup

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable around young children and families

  • Dependable, friendly, and supportive

  • Background clearances required (we’ll help guide you)

Through strategic programming, we address critical issues such as diaper and food insecurity, childhood literacy, maternal and paternal health disparities in BIPOC communities, and workforce development. By strengthening family units, we are cultivating a foundation for lasting generational success.

Description

Linked Family Services (LFS) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the Philadelphia area and surrounding counties. Our commitment lies in fostering positive change and enhancing the well-being of our community.

We offer programs and services that address critical needs, including combating diaper and food insecurity, promoting childhood literacy, and advancing maternal and paternal health within the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community. Additionally, we support the stability and growth of families by providing workforce development resources and access to job training opportunities.

We hope to have your support as we take our place in the Philadelphia community to serve!
