By joining the RiseUp Malawi mission, you will gain new skill sets, learn about the nonprofit world and Africa (Malawian culture specifically) and be able to say that you've made a difference for children and their families living in extreme poverty in rural Malawi. *PLEASE NOTE THIS OPPORTUNITY IS REMOTE BUT YOU MUST BE U.S. BASED. About Us: We are a small but mighty nonprofit providing educational programs for youth and their families in the rural southern region of Malawi, a tiny landlocked country in South East Africa. Our mission focuses on sustainability and providing our community with a hand-up, not a hand-out.

About the opportunity: We are looking for a volunteer social media intern to do a full take over of our social media 6 months (June 2025-December 2025) and help us share our amazing story with the world (Please note this opportunity does not require fundraising experience or skills but you may be asked to participate in fundraising efforts on a content only basis).

This opportunity is ideal for a college student or young professional with mad social media skills to add something powerful to their resume or for anyone who has a little bit of extra time and wants to give back through storytelling. Ideal volunteer is familiar with Facebook/Instagram integration, LinkedIn for nonprofits, photo editing (Canva), hashtags, filters and has an eye for visual aesthetics. You don't have to be an expert at social media, we just want someone whose passionate about the world's poor and can commit an hour or two a week to posting and/or scheduling future posts. This position is remote and super flexible (ie we will not be breathing down your back so you can run with it and make this your own project), so you work where you want when you want and in return you get to do something extraordinary for our children and their families in Malawi.

A Few More Details:
You will be managing our Instagram & LinkedIn accounts and growing our audience and followers through weekly engagement. This includes 1-2 weekly posts, responding to comments, following relevant accounts and using your own network to connect others to our cause. The only requirement for this position is that you already have an established social media presence on both platforms.

In return for your time, upon completion of the 6 month internship you will receive a RiseUp T-shirt, acknowledgement on our website or in our newsletter, letter of recommendation if needed and that wonderful feeling of knowing you did something amazing to help one of the world's most economically challenged populations. You will also be given the opportunity to stay in our guesthouse in Malawi at zero cost should you be inspired to travel there and see our programs up close. We are looking for someone who has social media growth experience and is passionate about the African continent and developing countries- previous travel to the African continent is a plus!

We want our social media to reflect Jesus' love for our children, speaking to their challenges but ultimately maintaining dignity and honoring the beloved children of God that they are.
