Spay/Neuter Transport Coordinator
Spaying and neutering cats is the best and most humane way to reduce the community cat population. The Spay/Neuter Transport Coordinator works with people who need to get their cats fixed to get them on one of our trips to spay/neuter clinics. Because there are no low cost spay/neuter options in the Florida Panhandle we drive (transport) 10-15 cats to Alabama to get them fixed. The Transport Coordinator works from home primarilary using cell phone text messages, Messanger, and Facebook to collect the information needed for each cat. The information is added to a spreadsheet and typed into forms that we send to the vet clinics we use. You'll email instructions are emailed to the cat pawrents using a pre-written template. You'll create a group text the day before the transport trip to remind people of the trip, to pick up food, prepare carriers. The group text is used on the surgery day to communicate with everyone involved in the trip. Before the cats return, you'll email out after surgery care instructions using our pre-written template.
Access to the internet and a working knowledge of basic Excel and Word are needed. Basic meaning being able to fill in a spreadsheet or form, adding rows in excel, moving rows. No accounting or advanced excel/word experience needed. You'll be working directly with the Founder/President who will train you and assist with coordination. The goal will be for you to be able to manage these trips solo from start to finish once you are comfortable with the process. There is no time limit for you to be ready to do this on your own. We'll work with you and train for however long it take until you feel you are ready. You don't need to know about cats, although it would help.
We do at least two transports per month, occassionally 3. The transports are almost always on a Thursday, unless we pick up a day at another clinic. The schedule is booked out a year in advance, so you will know what days. The forms are due to the vet the day before transports (Wednesday) by 3pm. Working hours are totally flexible. The days before and of transports are the busiest, but usually less than 2 hours once you're up to speed. Overall time needed for one transport is about 8-10 hours spread out over 1-2 weeks. That time is primarily scheduling people and collecting the needed information.
